Inaugural Ultimate Boxing Championship Event Set for Friday
For the first time this month, and only the second time since the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic, professional boxing takes place in the state of Florida on Friday. Juan Perez and Dyah Davis present the inaugural Ultimate Boxing Championship event, UBC1, at the Venice Arena in Venice, Florida. In addition to live attendance, set at a maximum of 50% of the venue’s capacity, the nine-bout card is available to order as an online live stream at ubc.live. The event starts at 6PM Eastern on Friday, July 17.
UBC1 features five undefeated fighters and an additional five fighters making their professional debuts.
The top of the card features two, six round bouts:
Undefeated cruiserweight, Michal Olas, 9-0 (8), makes his US debut against St. Louisan Kevin Brown, 2-9 (1). For Olas, who trains under the guidance of world title challenger Andrzej Fonfara, this will be his first fight in the United States and his first bout outside of his native Poland.
In an all-Florida middleweight bout, undefeated Sonny “Prime Time” Duversonne, 11-0-2 (8), takes on Curtis Walker, 1-8-1 (1). For Walker, this is will be his fourth time taking on an undefeated opponent.
Three of the four-round bouts on the card feature undefeated fighters:
Undefeated welterweight Ivan “The Great” Franco, 5-0 (4), takes on the most experienced opponent of his career in Missouri’s Demetrius Wilson, 2-16-1. Wilson is coming off a six-round decision loss against another undefeated Floridian, Sean Mason, just three weeks ago. Capable of an upset, Wilson has two wins against undefeated fighters.
Bradenton super middleweight, Ty McLeod, has won all five of his professional fights by knockout. With his last bout an impressive TKO victory over the durable Raynard Hill, McLeod faces another veteran in Rashad Jones. Jones, 7-25-3 (3), is the fighter on the card with the most professional experience. When the bell rings to start this bout, Jones will be competing in his 100th round of professional boxing.
Amateur standout and former amateur national champion from Brazil, Daniel Araujo Figueiredo, 2-0 (2), takes on fellow Brazilian Marcello Williams, 0-4 in a lightweight contest. The 19-year-old Figueiredo has won both his fights by third round stoppage, while Williams has gone the distance in his last three bouts.

In a lightweight dual debut, 19-year-old Armani “The Legacy” Almestica of Orlando, Florida will be fighting 23-year-old Kris Berberich of Massachusetts.
New Yorker Byrce Millis makes his boxing debut against Salome Flores Torres, 0-1, in a super welterweight bout.
Mikahail “Zurdo” Hernandez of Florida has his first professional contest against Jyrel Briggs, 0-1, of South Carolina.
